DANGEL reinvents 4x4 with a new revolutionary technology

Called 4WD by Dangel, this new system aims to redefine performance standards: whereas 4x4 vehicles traditionally use the power of the vehicle's engine to divide it between the front and rear axles, 4WD by Dangel technology retains the power of the basic engine on the front wheels and adds the power of the electric motor to the rear wheels, giving the vehicle unrivalled traction.

Coupled with an electronic control unit, the system adapts instantly to changing road conditions. And combined with the automatic gearbox of the base vehicle, Dangel is announcing a truly unprecedented level of user comfort.

The new system is equipped with the selector wheel that has been a feature of Dangel's vehicles since its inception. For the occasion, however, the wheel has been given a facelift, with the addition of new functions:

  • In ‘auto’ mode, the vehicle is in automatic 4x4 mode, meaning that the rear axle is activated as soon as the electronic controller detects a loss of grip, without any intervention from the user.
  • The ‘low’ mode offers more torque on each rear wheel, allowing more load on steeper gradients. It's the equivalent of a first short with the latest technological advances.

The system incorporates a 48V LFP battery that is self-contained, meaning it requires no external recharging.

To complete the system, Dangel has also adapted the vehicle's ESP to ensure optimum safety.

In short, the 4WD by Dangel transformation is :

  • 4x4 transmission with autonomous electric rear axle
  • An electronic control unit with automatic management of 4x4 mode
  • A knob on the dashboard for choosing between two modes and two power levels
  • Specific Dangel ESP with electronic traction control on all 4 wheels
  • A body raised by 90 mm
  • 4WD by Dangel’ stickers as standard on the side sills

With this new range of approved vehicles, Dangel once again demonstrates its capacity for innovation, its DNA for over 40 years.

The 4WD by Dangel transformation is currently available on small vans (Peugeot Partner, Citroën Berlingo, Opel Combo and Fiat Doblò) with BlueHDI 130 HP engine and 8-speed automatic gearbox (EAT8), all lengths and all loads.

It will then be gradually extended to the entire LCV range: small electric LCVs will follow, then medium-sized LCVs (Expert, Jumpy, Scudo and Vivaro) with electric and then diesel engines.

Transformation selling price: €9,250 excluding VAT (excluding transport)
